How do Christians believe in the Oneness of God and in the Holy Trinity simultaneously?
Q. Christians believe that God is One, correct? Then where does the Trinity come in? But how can God be One and Three at once? I thought Christian believe in One God but it seems as if God has split Himself into three. Surely believing in the divinity of any other but God is not believing in the Oneness of God. But how can God be One and Three at once? I thought Christian believe in One God but it seems as if God has split Himself into three. A. God is one. Simply because God appeared in Person, it does not mean that He is not one? Simply because He indwells His prophets does not mean that He is many. Understand who Jesus is to understand that God is one. His name is called The Word of God (Rev 19:13). In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Jesus, and without Jesus, nothing was made that was made. And Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1-3, 14). Jesus is called the Son of God because as the Word of God, He came from the Father. Through Jesus, God created the heavens and the earth. By good logic, you, your word, and your spirit are one person and not 3 persons.… [cont.]

Is a Christian a person who worships Jesus Christ or one who follows his teachings and examples?
Q. I've seen more than one person state that people who do not worship (whatever that may mean) Jesus Christ are not Christian. The Bible doesn't give us that definition. If anything, it claims that Jesus' disciples (students and followers) were Christians. So, is there a difference between worshiping some one and being a disciple of that same person? Whether your response is yes or no, I'd like to have you provide your reasoning.

A. It is defining what worship is. To show adoration, praise. To spend time with, to seek out to yearn after to give your whole life to it. We are to worship God and follow Jesus because He is the way to God and yes, Jesus himself is God the Son. Humans have an innate desire to worship. Grown men worshipping sport, women their bodies and appearance (that includes hand-bags and shoes..lol). Parents even worshipping and idolising their children. God is saying have no other Gods before me, do not bow down and worship them. The reasons are clear, they lead us away from God.They lead to idolatry which leads to a path of deception and destruction. Jesus said I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. He did not come to… [cont.]

A. Is Satan Really Such a Bad Guy? According to Christianity, Satan is the epitome and embodiment of all evil things, described as "the father of all lies" in the Catholic Church's Catechism (paragraph 391). It is his works that tempt humans into doing bad deeds. If something evil occurs, we can be assured that Satan had something to do with it. The History of Satan According to Catholicism, Satan only exists because God allows him to (The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 395). This raises some serious issues about how righteous God can be if he allows evil to exist, but I digress. Satan, as the story goes, began as the angel Lucifer, who outrightly rejected God and rebelled against him. God cast Lucifer and those who… [cont.]

A. The New Testament as we know it was created at the Conference of Nicea (hence the Nicene Code). When Constantine the Great declared Christianity to be the official religion of Rome, there was no standardized Bible, but many books which were used by different churches. Constantine ordered the bishops of the church to gather at Nicea to determine not only what books were to be included in the New Testament, but even the nature of Jesus himself. Before that, there were varying beliefs about his divinity. Some believed that he was God incarnate, some that he was the Son of God, and some that he was merely a great Rabbi, or teacher. Needless to say, there was a great deal of debate, not only in the meeting, but even spilling out into the… [cont.]

A. Mark 10 (Amplified Bible) 15Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] positively shall not enter it at all. 1 John 5 (Amplified Bible) 1Everyone who believes (adheres to, trusts, and relies on the fact) that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) is a born-again child of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him (His offspring). Will Christians admit that the bible was not written by god if it is proved to be flawed?
Q. Christians argue that the Bible is inerrant, infallible, and the Word of God ,so can have no contradictions or errors. Will they therefore question their belief if it is shown that the bible is flawed? Example: Dr. Michael Segal, editor for the Hebrew University Bible Project in Jeruselam displayed a dull-looking chart projected on the wall of a university office in Jerusalem revealing a revelation that would startle many readers of the Old Testament: The sacred text that people revered in the past was not the same one we study today. An ancient version of one book has an extra phrase. Another appears to have been revised to retroactively insert a prophecy after the events happened.

A. You're only talking about a small subset of Christians (probably right-wing US ones). The majority of Christians believe that the Bible *contains* revelation from God, from a variety of sources. We believe that some parts were indeed dictated literally (like Revelation, which was a vision to John - but is remarkably difficult to understand) and that some of the prophecies given in the Old Testament were also literal words from God, written down verbatim. The Gospels were written mostly by people who knew Jesus when he was a man on earth, but even so contain some slight differences here and there, which are attributable to the fact that they were written by people with different personalities, looking from different perspectives, and aimed… [cont.]

Was it morally right for the early Christian Church to burn the Gnostic gospels?
Q. Facts: The early Christian Church, at the end of the fourth century, began burning all materials that did not correspond with Christian ideology, the Gnostic writings, and this is evident, when Athanasius, the bishop of Alexandria, in 367 AD, urge Christians to "cleanse the church from every defilement" and to reject "the hidden books." The authorities of Nazi Germany, in May 1933, began to ceremonially burn all books in Germany that did not correspond with Nazi ideology. See the irony?

A. No. The early church sought to destroy anything that did not further the position of the church. We have the Nag Hammadi discoveries, I believe, because God wanted them found. The Gnostic Gospels are the ONLY gospels not corrupted by man. According to the Gnostic Gospels Jesus spoke of enlightenment NOT salvation. It is illuminating that no fundies have answered this question, isn't it.

A. There is only One God. Those that have experienced the presence of God, have done so through the interpretation of the cultural beliefs that are present in their consciousness. So, Christian's experience the presence of Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, when they experience God. Buddhist's experience the Buddha Nature, when they experience the Transcendent. Hindu's experience one of the many manifestations of their conceptions of Deity. Catholics experience Mother Mary, or one of the Saints. Atheist's experience the Transcendence in the pursuit of the scientific evidence of Truth. A. Baptists Churches are usually member of one of the Baptist Societies, like the Southern Baptists. Baptist churches, though, are normally operated independently. that is, the Baptist Society they are a member of does NOT dictate how or what they teach. Christian Churches may be completely independent, or they might be a member of a "coalition", a loose collection of similar non-denominational churches. Again, each church is independent, and are not told what to teach. Doctrine wise, they are pretty close to the same. How could a Christian justify the Bible saying that the earth is flat?
Q. I'm a fairly new Christian, but I've never considered this before: The Bible does not specifically claim that "the earth is flat" but it is strongly hinted in several places. It is also rarely hinted at that the earth is round, or a sphere, etc. So if the Bible is God's word, how could a Christian justify the Bible's claims of our earth being flat, when God created earth? Surely God should know that the earth is round, and so this should be said in the Bible?

Why does the week on the Christian calendar start on Sunday?
Q. According the Christian religion, God rested on the seventh day. Presumably, that seventh day was Sunday because Christians celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday. Why, then, does the week on the calendar created by the Christians start on Sunday, making Saturday the seventh day?

A. What a great observation!!! However, the calendar has ALWAYS started with Sunday as the first day of the week. Though, they have tried to change the display order of the days of the week on European calendars. Your assertion that "presumably, that seventh day was Sunday" is incorrect. The seventh day has ALWAYS been what we call Saturday. Most of Christendom have their day of worship on Sunday because of tradition, not because of Biblical teaching. However, there are some Christians that still observe the Bible Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. For example, the Seventh-Day Adventists. Sunday observance happened as Constantine tried to unite his empire which consisted of Christians and Pagans. The Pagans worshiped… [cont.]

Even is atheists feel science is on their side, christians may interpret it differently. What makes you better than someone else on the basis of your opinion? That is your opinion, asshole. A. I try not to. That's why I'm here, to do what God wanted us Christians to do, preach the Gospel, and the chosen would have an ability to respond. I don't think it would be wise for me to exalt myself above, but I will argue my points concerning anything I'm able to. Having an opinion isn't wrong (I'm sure that's not what you are saying), and that's mine. I'm saying that God is esoteric in that he only chose some. The flack I get from the "others", well, he told me about them as well.

What to say to Christians who say it is 'sin' not god that is the cause of bad things in the world?
Q. I often talk to Christians about the inconsistencies in god's character and behavior. Particularly when Christians say god protects, is all powerful, merciful etc. Usually a Christian will then say that anything negative happening in the world isn't god, its sin or satan causing these things. I'd like to know how to argue against that statement.

A. "Does anything happen on this planet that is against Gods will?" If the answer is yes, then he is not omnipotent and not worthy of the title God. If the answer is no then he allows bad things to happen. I think Epicurus was the first to logically argue that suffering/evil negates the existence of a benevolent God.

What kind of example is the Christian god trying to set?
Q. Christians believe that god is perfect, right? So why does the almighty Christian god have the power to stop evil and allow it to happen anyway? Is that the Christian idea of perfection? What kind of example is the Christian god trying to set? Does that mean if I see something bad happen I should do nothing?
Asked by Why? - Sat Dec 29 21:31:11 2012 - Religion & Spirituality - 9 Answers - Comments

A. What about God's perfection would lead you to believe you shouldn't do anything to help people? All of the bad things that happen in the world are because of PEOPLE. The Christian god gave his people free-will, which means they are responsible for their actions. I believe that is out of love, God wants his people to be good out of their own conscience. So, please continue helping people. God will reward those people. And if you ask about "Cancer killing innocent people" we believe that it is because God has another plan for that person. Hope this helps! (:

A. Well, there's the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. They say donations are voluntary, but in the past they have taken part in all kinds of strange stuff, like charging money for "miracles"... Apart from that no christian church asks for money in exchange for salvation. If you want an example of a non-christian religion, you always have scientology. In that religion, the only way to learn more and come closer in their path to enlightement is to pay for their courses, which become increasingly costly as you get higher in "knowledge".
