Whats the difference betwenn worshiping in a Catholic Church and worshipping in another church?
Q. Catholics, why is it a sin for you to worship elsewhere-for example if you went to Baptist or Pentacostal etc Church? What is the difference and why does it really matter? I mean just saying "we are taught catholic church is the truth" doesnt really give helpful answer-i mean why exactly in detail? What are the dangers that it then would be considered wrong to do so? I mean surely it isnt just a loyalty to your church thing or your Church trying to control the laity because controlling people is wrong-no?

A. I am not a Roman Catholic, but a follower of the Lord. My early childhood was in the Roman Catholic church as well as Spiritual and Baptist churches. I have since been blessed to be unbounded to this world's religion. My take on the Roman church is that she has always wanted to control the world's religion of Christianity. Sadly with the same type of Scripture manipulation that Satan has used throughout time, the Roman church does the same thing in order to merge both her ways and the Words of the LORD to her benefit and agenda. The difference between other Christian churches and the Roman church is her devotion to Mary to almost deity level and symbol worship. The fact that she has manipulated the 10 Commandments as well as misinterpreted… [cont.]

What is a woman's role in the family according to the Bible?
Q. So according to the Bible a man is supposed to be in charge of the household and provide for the family. Just recently I had found that it is a man's responsibility to find a wife. I was wondering what a woman's role was in the Bible because my memory is blank on that part. I know she is suppose to care for the children and keep up the household. I was wondering what else is expected?

A. See Proverbs 31:10-31. Also, First Corinthians 7. A married woman is supposed to be guided by both God and her husband, and the husband guided by God, so you need a godly, Christian guy. This is the basic Christian message and prayer --- you need to accept God's Son, Jesus Christ, into your life to be a born again Christian and follow God's ways so you can receive God's guidance in your life and get to heaven after you die. Knowing God can transform your life. When you know God, then pray about your life, God can help you live a better life. As God is love, life is primarily about love and relationships in order to have a rich and full life. Also, you need to know God's Son, Jesus Christ, in your life as your Lord and Savior as Jesus died… [cont.]

When (and to what level) did the Catholic church recognize ceremonies performed by Protestants as valid?
Q. For instance, marriage, baptism, etc? What (if any) religious ceremonies are not considered valid by the Catholic Church if not performed by them?
Asked by Old Man from Scene 24 - Mon Oct 6 23:00:33 2008 - Religion & Spirituality - 9 Answers - Comments
A. The Catholic Church will recognize a baptism done by any Protestant church with the exception of the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses, because neither is done in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church will recognize marriage from ALL Protestant Churches, and in fact, from ALL religions. However, if one or both partners in the marriage was previously divorced, they will have to go through the annulment process before their current marriage is recognized. Converts will have to be (re)confirmed, and converts may not take part in the Eucharist until they have been confirmed and, if not previously baptized or if from the Mormon or Jehovah's Witness denomination, baptized.

What is the score with all the different branches of christianity? Why is there so much friction?
Q. This is a genuine question; why are there so many different types of christianity? Don't they all believe in the same god and read the same book? Why is there so much trouble between them (catholics and protestants spring to mind)? Do they see each other as blasphemous heathens (in the same way they see 'other' religions such as islam) or followers of the right god but in the wrong way?

A. My Opinion... Because around the 1500s, the idea that everyone not only COULD, but SHOULD personally interpret the bible for themselves and break away from anyone who doesn't share their beliefs was released into the world. Like the idea of Freewill and Original Sin, ONCE everyone realized.. HEY, I don't have to do what THAT guy says.. I can do whatever I want (religious speaking) then the flood gates opened for Christianity to splinter and fracture. To this very day, things are STILL fracturing.. and in fact I think it is accelerating. Christians, What is the right way to witness to others about Jesus?
Q. Rookie Level Christian here. I don't care if you're nice or not. Just wondering. The way I see a lot of Christians doing it just seems wrong. It's like "Find Jesus or burn in hell forever." Isn't it easier, and more like Jesus's way, to talk about the goodness of the Lord, obey Jesus, answer all questions asked, and pray for the unbelievers? Why sit around and call others names for their lack of faith? It doesn't make any sense to me at all.

A. Allow them to see Jesus in you first and foremost. Live a life according to Jesus and they will ask you what you have that they don't. Also stop when witnessing does more harm than good. Pray for them, ask God to open their hearts to him. He is the only one that can.

How is Christianity different than Islam in the aspect of writings?
Q. Muslims love to criticize Christians saying they follow books (Paul) written way after the death of Jesus (pbuh). But isn't the same thing happening with Islam? The Hadith were collected hundreds of years after the death of Muhammad (pbuh), but Muslims (Sunni) swear they are real and authenticated. So what's the deal? I see hypocrisy.

The words of Men this is what the companions that were present at the time saw. 4. Historians and commentators. What's the difference between God and Satan except that you hold Satan accountable?
Q. God gets out of jail free whenever he's really rotten to people. No one else could get away with that. If God were an American citizen, he would have been given the death penalty, or several thousand concurrent life sentences. So, believers in God, why do you tolerate it? Why is God the only one who is allowed to be horrible? If your reason is that God created us, could you please explain that. For instance, you're not allowed to kill your kids, even though you made them... it's not that simple or else Caylee's mom should walk.

A. The reason why you think of what God is, is because you relate God as being human. You / we do not have the intelligence to understand or comprehend such an intelligent factor. Especially if your mind is clouded within the world you live in. What I speak of is outside of this world, yes it is dont get me wrong here but lets speak intelligently. What defines "God" is another level that is higher than yours and can be any one of those factors I speak of. You will have to understand what I say to see my point. For example a cat, and this is a very vague point, but you choose when to feed it, when to let it outside, when to love it etc. In the cats eyes you are its God as it sees you as being remarkably intelligent as it wishes it… [cont.]

A. Seventh-day Adventist believe in Jesus Christ and honoring the Moral Law(Ten Commandments). John 14:15 "Jesus said, If you love me keep my Commandments." Saturday is the Bible Sabbath(Exodus 20:8-11). It is the seventh day of the week. The Holy Bible is crystal clear on the topic of the Sabbath. This day was established by God himself at Creation(Genesis 2:1-3) and reiterated when Moses received the en Commandments(Exodus 31:18) on Mt. Sinai. You should keep the Sabbath day Holy because God Commanded. We all are accountable to God for the Sabbath and the other nine Commandments.(Exodus 20:3-17). A. I think, for some, taking "the pledge" is just something Americans do, and thus, like wearing the Cross, it's become largely a thing done from habit, not Actual feelings/beliefs. I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In school some students would get mad because I didn't say the pledge. What was funny to me is, they weren't mad that I was being "unpatriotic", they didn't feel it was right for them to have to do it, if I didn't do it. I can understand forming alliances, on varying levels, with others. People are often loyal to Teams in sports. I myself am *though haven't been very active lately* a Risembool Ranger. The mausolea of Constantine the Great (the main imperial burial place until the eleventh century) and of Justinian I were in the complex surrounding this vast cruciform church. Q. Why would God make it this way? If it's not complex, literal and simple does that mean an actual Hell exists where fire tortures all those who didn't believe for eternity? Can you come up with a reason why such an inhumane, barbaric place would exist?

A. The Bible can be complicated because there is sooo much symbolism and you have to remember it was written by people in a diff time and culture and so to better understand it you have to understand that culture. There are layers to the teachings of the Bible and the Savior spoke of this concept. It allows people at different spiritual levels to get different concepts more deeply. You cant interpret the Bible correctly without some basic understandings, but a lot of those are laid out more simply, esp in the New Testament. As your understanding increases, your ability to understand the deeper spiritual meanings and symbolism increases. It is done this way on purpose so that everyone at diff spiritual levels can continue to spiritually get… [cont.]

Is the best thing about Catholic Christian the power to adapt with times?
Q. When times are changing the church can change but most religions stay in the old ways even when they don't relevancy. Better 50 years than 1000 years though correct?
Asked by No Chance Without Zora Pakora - Sat Sep 8 00:59:59 2012 - Religion & Spirituality - 3 Answers - Comments
A. For the Catholic the "Church" is NOT the Vatican or even the Curia. It is the entire Catholic population. Someone mentioned that change in the Church is very slow, and that is completely true. This is because change does not come from the top down. The top levels of the Church will always be the more conservative. Change in the Church starts with the bottom and work their way UP.

How can the church help the church family with funds if the funds are always going to help someone other?
Q. Then the local church family? Isn't that like a mother son needing shoes, and instead of buying the kid shoes, she takes the money and buys the next door neighbor kids shoes, knowing that her son needed those shoes as well.

A. I know a lot of churches do this and it doesn't make much sense. In the early church they gathered funds for preaching the gospel, or helping those within the church family. No where does it mention them using these funds for the poor. That doesn't mean we should neglect them on a personal level. Christ says to care for others. Like the story of the good Samaritan: Luke 10:33-35 "But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins [fn] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I… [cont.]

So how many times has the bible been changed or altered? How were the books in the bible chosen?
Q. Christians always argue everything from the bible, but how valid is the bible.

A. With the exception of the final chapter in the Book of Mark, the New Testament Books have escaped the revisions that are commonplace in the Old Testament. The Old Testament Book of Isaiah for example was thought to be prophetic above all others until recently since tradition held stubbornly to a single author theory for over 2,000 years. You will find little opposition among today's Biblical Historians to a three major authors theory (I Isaiah, II Isaiah, and III Isaiah), all writing about 100 years apart. Eleven more editors of the Book have been identified bringing the number of men who have made changes or additions in the Book of Isaiah alone to 14. Every Old Testament Book bears the marks of editing and revision. When the Old… [cont.]

What is happening in the catholic church to stop abuse?
Q. Everyone knows that the catholic church as had it's problems with child abuse, just like some other demoninations, so I wondered what is the catholic church doing to stop what is happening or has happened in the past?

A. The Church has made every effort to make the Church the safest place for children. In the seminaries anyone suspected of homosexual tendencies or desires is immediately removed from training. In the parishes anyone who has any contact with children must complete a background check. Children are taught how to recognize abuse and to report it. Clergy suspected of abuse are immediately removed from ministry and reported to the civil authorities. Homosexuals have been purged from ministry at all levels. It is important to note that the instance of abuse among Catholic clergy is, was and remains the lowest incidence of such abuse among all clergy of any faith. It is a problem in all of society. What the Church has done should be a model for all… [cont.]

Why is it important that God respects our free will?
Q. Why would an infinitely good God give us a bad choice (alongside the good one) that would lead us to hell? What is more important: having multiple choices or avoiding eternal torture? Free will is a principle; one that seems to define God s law. The whole point of principles and law is to regulate eventualities it is the events that matter ultimately, not the principle and law itself. Eternal punishment is an event in the eyes of God, and what an event - the single most horrific one ever. Therefore how can God prioritise the prospects of a principle (free will) over the prospects of an event (punishment in hell)? An infinitely good God would want to protect us from ourselves, surely. Isn t it infinitely better to deny somebody s foolish… [cont.]

A. Love forces nothing. If it did it would not be love it would be judgment. Think about it. As for the eternal punishment idea. This whole idea is based on the premise that God has a plan for our salvation but it doesn't work. How likely is that? If you think it through the only logical conclusion is that religion is a lie about God designed to control people through fear.

What happens if I influence someone to disbelieve Jesus and leave christianity and perhaps become atheist?
Q. Instead of sending me to the regular hell when I die, will the God send me to a level that has more smoke and noise and worms and squalor and torture? Will I burn and rot in a worse way forever? Or will the God just let it slide, and send me to the regular hell? You know, in his holy mercy or whatever? . .
