How do Christians believe in the Oneness of God and in the Holy Trinity simultaneously?
Q. Christians believe that God is One, correct? Then where does the Trinity come in? But how can God be One and Three at once? I thought Christian believe in One God but it seems as if God has split Himself into three. Surely believing in the divinity of any other but God is not believing in the Oneness of God. A. God is one. Simply because God appeared in Person, it does not mean that He is not one? Simply because He indwells His prophets does not mean that He is many. Understand who Jesus is to understand that God is one. His name is called The Word of God (Rev 19:13). In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Jesus, and without Jesus, nothing was made that was made. And Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1-3, 14). Jesus is called the Son of God because as the Word of God, He came from the Father. Through Jesus, God created the heavens and the earth. By good logic, you, your word, and your spirit are one person and not 3 persons.… [cont.]

Is a Christian a person who worships Jesus Christ or one who follows his teachings and examples?
Q. I've seen more than one person state that people who do not worship (whatever that may mean) Jesus Christ are not Christian. The Bible doesn't give us that definition. If anything, it claims that Jesus' disciples (students and followers) were Christians. So, is there a difference between worshiping some one and being a disciple of that same person? Whether your response is yes or no, I'd like to have you provide your reasoning.

A. It is defining what worship is. To show adoration, praise. To spend time with, to seek out to yearn after to give your whole life to it. We are to worship God and follow Jesus because He is the way to God and yes, Jesus himself is God the Son. Humans have an innate desire to worship. Grown men worshipping sport, women their bodies and appearance (that includes hand-bags and shoes..lol). Parents even worshipping and idolising their children. God is saying have no other Gods before me, do not bow down and worship them. The reasons are clear, they lead us away from God.They lead to idolatry which leads to a path of deception and destruction. Jesus said I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. He did not come to… [cont.]

What was the eternal Bible God doing to occupy himself before the Jews and Christians came along?
Q. In human time, how long did the Bible God spend in complete solitude with no one to talk to prior to the existence of Jews and Christians?

A. God, being outside of time was always in fellowship--The Son, the Father and The Holy Spirit--never was their fellowship ever broken, and then we see that God the Son has always had a relationship with God the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit with the Father and the Father with the Son--that shows that God always has had fellowship and relationships within the trinity, that's just what we see in the Scriptures. Another thought, since God is Omniscient, then He knows everything all the time and has always known everything. Then with that thought, He always knew that He was going to create us--was there a time that God didn't have us on His mind (since He is Omniscient)?

How did people relate to God before the bible was released?
Q. How were their christians before the bible? Was God just in their face more? Or was it all word of mouth from adam & eve? People seemed to be getting along just fine before, so is their too much emphasis put on the bible? I'm not saying anything negative whatsoever against the bible. I love it, but just wondering why there isn't equal emphasis on other things like praying and talking to God, and whatever they did before the bible came out.

A. Is Satan Really Such a Bad Guy? According to Christianity, Satan is the epitome and embodiment of all evil things, described as "the father of all lies" in the Catholic Church's Catechism (paragraph 391). It is his works that tempt humans into doing bad deeds. If something evil occurs, we can be assured that Satan had something to do with it. The History of Satan According to Catholicism, Satan only exists because God allows him to (The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 395). This raises some serious issues about how righteous God can be if he allows evil to exist, but I digress. Satan, as the story goes, began as the angel Lucifer, who outrightly rejected God and rebelled against him. God cast Lucifer and those who… [cont.]

A. The New Testament as we know it was created at the Conference of Nicea (hence the Nicene Code). When Constantine the Great declared Christianity to be the official religion of Rome, there was no standardized Bible, but many books which were used by different churches. Constantine ordered the bishops of the church to gather at Nicea to determine not only what books were to be included in the New Testament, but even the nature of Jesus himself. Before that, there were varying beliefs about his divinity. Some believed that he was God incarnate, some that he was the Son of God, and some that he was merely a great Rabbi, or teacher. Will Christians admit that the bible was not written by god if it is proved to be flawed?
Q. Christians argue that the Bible is inerrant, infallible, and the Word of God ,so can have no contradictions or errors. Will they therefore question their belief if it is shown that the bible is flawed? Example: Dr. Michael Segal, editor for the Hebrew University Bible Project in Jeruselam displayed a dull-looking chart projected on the wall of a university office in Jerusalem revealing a revelation that would startle many readers of the Old Testament: The sacred text that people revered in the past was not the same one we study today. An ancient version of one book has an extra phrase. Another appears to have been revised to retroactively insert a prophecy after the events happened.

A. You're only talking about a small subset of Christians (probably right-wing US ones). The majority of Christians believe that the Bible *contains* revelation from God, from a variety of sources. We believe that some parts were indeed dictated literally (like Revelation, which was a vision to John - but is remarkably difficult to understand) and that some of the prophecies given in the Old Testament were also literal words from God, written down verbatim. The Gospels were written mostly by people who knew Jesus when he was a man on earth, but even so contain some slight differences here and there, which are attributable to the fact that they were written by people with different personalities, looking from different perspectives, and aimed… [cont.]

A. There is only One God. Those that have experienced the presence of God, have done so through the interpretation of the cultural beliefs that are present in their consciousness. So, Christian's experience the presence of Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, when they experience God. Buddhist's experience the Buddha Nature, when they experience the Transcendent. Hindu's experience one of the many manifestations of their conceptions of Deity. Catholics experience Mother Mary, or one of the Saints. Atheist's experience the Transcendence in the pursuit of the scientific evidence of Truth. We all seek after the same Thing, but call It many different names, and ascribe to It many different attributes. Peace and Namaste!

Was it morally right for the early Christian Church to burn the Gnostic gospels?
Q. Facts: The early Christian Church, at the end of the fourth century, began burning all materials that did not correspond with Christian ideology, the Gnostic writings, and this is evident, when Athanasius, the bishop of Alexandria, in 367 AD, urge Christians to "cleanse the church from every defilement" and to reject "the hidden books." The authorities of Nazi Germany, in May 1933, began to ceremonially burn all books in Germany that did not correspond with Nazi ideology. See the irony?

A. No. The early church sought to destroy anything that did not further the position of the church. We have the Nag Hammadi discoveries, I believe, because God wanted them found. The Gnostic Gospels are the ONLY gospels not corrupted by man. According to the Gnostic Gospels Jesus spoke of enlightenment NOT salvation. It is illuminating that no fundies have answered this question, isn't it.

Do Christians view the footnotes in their bibles as the divinely revealed word of their god?
Q. The footnotes in Christian bibles vary between all the different cults of Christianity. Different Christian cults want their flock of fools to have certain interpretations of the bible, so they design their footnotes in accordance with their intentions. There is so much manipulation in religions like Christianity and this is just more manipulation. But do Christians view these footnotes as gospel or are they allowed to exercise their own personal judgment on them?
Asked by - Thu Dec 2 16:41:14 2010 - Religion & Spirituality - 18 Answers - Comments

A. +++To be honest I don't need to read the footnotes. I have come across some I didn't agree with. That is basically for people that don't understand the Word. Some of them have great historical information, depending on the Bible. They are not divine by any means. New Christians have to be careful and pray to understand the Word of God and not so much the footnotes. +++

A. Baptists Churches are usually member of one of the Baptist Societies, like the Southern Baptists. Baptist churches, though, are normally operated independently. that is, the Baptist Society they are a member of does NOT dictate how or what they teach. Christian Churches may be completely independent, or they might be a member of a "coalition", a loose collection of similar non-denominational churches. Again, each church is independent, and are not told what to teach. Doctrine wise, they are pretty close to the same. I left a large Christian Church for a smaller Southern Baptist church several years ago, and have had no problems. Yes, the pope may be guilty of many things but so are we. If you don't like him, don't follow him. That's how you stop certain false prophets from prospering. Don't follow them. What kind of example is the Christian god trying to set?
Q. Christians believe that god is perfect, right? So why does the almighty Christian god have the power to stop evil and allow it to happen anyway? Is that the Christian idea of perfection? Asked by Seeking Answers - Sat Dec 29 21:31:11 2012 - Religion & Spirituality - 9 Answers - Comments

A. What about God's perfection would lead you to believe you shouldn't do anything to help people? All of the bad things that happen in the world are because of PEOPLE. The Christian god gave his people free-will, which means they are responsible for their actions. I believe that is out of love, God wants his people to be good out of their own conscience. So, please continue helping people. God will reward those people. And if you ask about "Cancer killing innocent people" we believe that it is because God has another plan for that person. Hope this helps! (:

A. Well, there's the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. They say donations are voluntary, but in the past they have taken part in all kinds of strange stuff, like charging money for "miracles"... Apart from that no christian church asks for money in exchange for salvation. If you want an example of a non-christian religion, you always have scientology. In that religion, the only way to learn more and come closer in their path to enlightement is to pay for their courses, which become increasingly costly as you get higher in "knowledge".

Did you know that the first time the church used the word "homosexual" was in the 1860's because they didn't realise gay people actually existed till then! Of course the church will never admit to being wrong because many versions of the bible today have the word homosexal in the text but that's just because it was put into the holy book in the mid 1900's! You see the original bible was written in Ancient Hebrew and Greek but surprisingly there's no word in either ancient language for homosexual!
